Powerloom
A powerloom is a mechanically powered weaving loom — as opposed to a handloom. In Indian usage, "powerloom" most often refers to the broad segment of small-to-mid-size weaving units running shuttle and shuttle-less mechanical looms.
India's powerloom sector contributes roughly 58% of total cloth production and over 60% of export fabric. Clusters include Surat, Bhiwandi, Ichalkaranji, Malegaon, Erode, and Coimbatore — each with distinct loom mixes (water-jet in Surat, shuttle and rapier in Bhiwandi, jacquard in Ichalkaranji).
Powerloom units typically run 10–200 looms, often as cooperatives or sub-contracted floors. Jobwork is a dominant business model. MobiOffice is built specifically for this segment — see the dedicated powerloom ERP page for the full picture.
