Tally vs Weaving ERP.
MobiOffice replaces Tally.
Floor and books, one system.
Tally was the right choice when you started. MobiOffice gives you everything Tally does for accounts — plus everything it doesn't do for the floor. Most customers migrate fully and don't look back.
What Tally covers. What it doesn't.
Tally handles accounts well. It doesn't know what a beam is, and it was never meant to. It has no concept of shift-wise production, loom-wise wastage, or carton-level yarn tracking. MobiOffice was built for all of that — and it includes a full financial accounting system so you don't need Tally running alongside it.
What each system covers
| Area | Tally | MobiOffice |
|---|---|---|
| Accounts & ledger | Full coverage | Full FA system — Chart of Accounts, A/R, A/P, credit/debit notes, Sales Order → DC → Invoice, P&L, balance sheet, trial balance, GSTN sync |
| GST / e-invoicing | Full GST compliance | IRN generation, e-way bills, GSTN sync built in |
| Beam planning | Not available | Auto-calculates yarn requirements from design specs |
| Yarn inventory | Manual journal entries | Carton-level tracking, lot-wise, auto-deducted on production |
| Production tracking | Not available | Loom-wise, shift-wise, live on mobile |
| Wastage tracking | Not available | Warp and weft wastage per machine, vouchers auto-posted |
| Dispatch | Invoice entry only | Barcode scan, picking list, dispatch voucher, GST invoice at scan |
| Mobile access | Limited | Full mobile app for supervisors, stores, and owners |
| Data entry duplication | Production entered separately from accounts — manual journal entries | One entry on the floor: inventory updates, wastage posts to accounts, GST invoice carries correct data |
Can I keep Tally when I move to MobiOffice?
Yes — during transition if you need a period of overlap. But most customers don't need to. MobiOffice handles accounts fully: Chart of Accounts, A/R, A/P, credit and debit notes, the full Sales Order → DC → Invoice flow, P&L, balance sheet, trial balance, and complete GSTN compliance including e-invoicing with IRN and e-way bills.
Your chartered accountant gets the same reports they're used to, generated in MobiOffice. Wastage vouchers post automatically from the floor. Dispatch invoices carry HSN codes and GSTIN. IRN is generated at the point of dispatch. The data your CA needs is already there — no separate system required.
What changes on day one
- Beam planning moves from manual calculation to auto-calculated requirements
- Yarn inventory tracks at carton level — no more register discrepancies
- Production and wastage are visible live — not after end-of-shift paperwork
- Dispatch uses barcode scanning — disputes about which takas were sent stop
- Accounts works in MobiOffice — ledgers, GST, and compliance in the same system as production
- Data is entered once. Supervisors log production; inventory, accounts, and GST all update from that one entry. No re-entering in Tally.
- Can Tally manage a weaving unit?
- Tally is excellent at accounts, GST, and compliance, but it has no concept of a beam, a taka, a doffing entry, a loom, or shift-wise production. Most weaving units that run on Tally end up with parallel registers, spreadsheets, and end-of-month reconciliation between three systems. Tally manages the books well; it does not manage a weaving floor.
- Should I run Tally + a weaving ERP together?
- Some units do during transition, but it is not the long-term goal. MobiOffice has a full financial accounting system built in — Chart of Accounts, A/R, A/P, P&L, balance sheet, and GSTN integration with IRN and e-way bill flow. Most customers migrate fully off Tally once they see the books and the floor running on the same data.
- Does MobiOffice replace Tally fully?
- Yes for most weaving units. The full Sales Order → Delivery Challan → Invoice → E-way Bill flow runs inside MobiOffice, the chart of accounts is built in, GST returns are filed from the system, and your CA gets clean reports. Tally integration is available for units that want a transition period, but it is optional, not the default.
- What if my chartered accountant is more comfortable in Tally?
- CAs adapt within a cycle. The reports they need — ledgers, trial balance, P&L, balance sheet, GSTR returns — are all available in MobiOffice. We provide a CA login and walk them through the reports during the first GST filing cycle on the new system. After one cycle, most CAs prefer it because the underlying data is cleaner.
